The Zeno Karl Schindler Foundation has existed now for over six years, the first two having been mostly a period of operational and financial consolidation. Since 2006 many grants, prizes and other projects have been developed. More than 30 scholarships for either Master’s degrees, Master’s thesis or Doctoral exchange grants have been distributed in the two fields of activity registered in the purposes of the ZKS Foundation.
Since 2008, the Summer School grant has known a certain success, too, especially for students of the MIT, near Boston. Soon there might also be a new Summer School in cooperation with SISMEL (Societa Internazionale per lo Studio del Medioevo Latino) at the USI, Lugano (see page Contact/Links) with whom we have also created the ZKS/Claudio Leonardi Stipend.
Moreover, five prizes for research work ZKS/SAGG Award (candidates selected by a committee of the Swiss Academic Society of Germanists SAGG) have been distributed and five ZKS/Walter Haug-Scholarships have been attributed. In 2007 a grant was given to support the new edition of a 15th century book "Melusine" and to help financing a seminar around this theme. The ZKS Foundation also substantially contributed to financing a computer project for medieval manuscripts (HyperCodex) reuniting this way both purposes of the Foundation in one project.
We have also largely financed a colloquium "Music in the Church/Music of the Church" organized by the new faculty "Gregorianik" of the Lucerne University (end of September 2010) which has fundamentally resonated in the concerned milieus (musicology and theology).
Furthermore we just have attributed the new ZKS/EPFL Award for post-doctoral research in Environmental Engineering and Durability (view also the websites http://commission-recherche.epfl.ch/page-37358-en.html and http://commission-recherche.epfl.ch/page-37358-fr. html) to Dr. Kevin Sivula for his important contribution in storing of solar energy.
