SUMMERSCHOOL GRANT

Grants for North American and European students who wish to come to study at a Swiss University or for Swiss students who wish to study at a North American or European University during the summer in the following fields:

 

  • Engineering and Environmental Sciences (which includes bioengineering, but not life science or biology),
  • Medieval Languages and Literature, including all other medieval disciplines (Medieval Studies)
  • Digital Humanities at the intersection of Medieval Disciplines and Computing

 

Who can apply:

Currently enrolled students of a North American or a European University or currently enrolled at a Swiss University.

 

THE FOUNDATION WILL NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION, JUSTIFICATION NOR REASON FOR THE DECISIONS CONCERNING THE ACCEPTANCE OR NOT OF AN APPLICATION.

Grant

A stipend of 1’600 Swiss francs per month, plus return economy class airfare/train ticket from home university to hosting university.

Application procedure

Applicants should:

Send an email to the ZKS Foundation’s email address (info@zenokarlschindler-foundation.ch) with attached the following three files:

 

The first, the “Application form” completely filled in.

The second, the "Affidavit" dully complete, dated and signed.

The third in single PDF format containing the following documents in that order:

  1. A one page motivation letter with the full address of the candidate
  2. A one-page resume, including description of the candidate’s education and experience plus elementary personal data (date and place of birth, citizenship, marital status, language profi­ciency)
  3. Grade transcripts of the applicant for all years of higher education.
  4. A one- to two-page research project indicating the work planned
  5. A printed email from the hosting professor with her/his address and phone number, confirming that she/he will host and provide guidance to the student for the project and confi­rming that the provided funds are needed for the project and that there are no other sources of funding.

 

Note: in considering the application, the ZKS Foundation may contact the hosting professor.

 

When

Deadline for the period from June to September of each year (summer grants are for a maximum of three months): March 15 of the same year, midnight (Swiss time).
